How to get grease out of clothes
1. Dispose of it quickly
The key is to dispose of the grease as soon as possible. If the oil stays on your clothes for a long time, it will penetrate deeper and be harder to remove. Use a paper towel or dry cloth to gently remove excess oil from the surface, do not rub to prevent the grease from spreading.
2. Sprinkle oil-absorbing powder
Sprinkle some oil-absorbing powder, such as cornstarch, baby talcum powder or baking soda, on the oil. Let them sit for 15-30 minutes to absorb the oil. Then, gently brush off the powder with a brush.
3. Use liquid laundry detergent
Apply the laundry detergent directly to the grease and gently rub it to make sure the detergent penetrates the grease. The enzymes in liquid laundry detergent can break down fats and oils, making them easier to remove.
4. Pre-treatment
For stubborn grease, you can use a pretreatment spray or detergent. According to the product instructions, spray the pretreatment agent on the grease stain and let it sit for a few minutes.
5.Cleaning the laundry
Place the clothes in the washing machine and wash them in the appropriate water temperature according to the instructions on the label. Hot water is usually better for removing grease, but if the clothing label suggests using cold water, be sure to follow the instructions.
6. Check for stains
Before placing the garment in the dryer, check that the grease has been completely removed. High temperatures may fix the grease and if the stain remains, you can treat it again before cleaning.
7. Use bleach (for white clothes only)
If the oil remains stubborn and the clothes are white, you can try using oxidizing bleach. Dilute it according to the instructions and apply it to the grease area. Be careful to control the amount so as not to damage the clothing.
8. Natural Drying
After removing the grease, dry the clothes naturally. Avoid using a dryer as the high temperature may make it more difficult to remove the remaining grease.
